Along with charming little black & white illustrations dotted around, the book is interspersed with full colour paintings by Alan Firth, my particular favourite being 'At Stoke Bruerne, Grand Union Canal, on page 16, alongside a tasty recipe for 'LOCK-KEEPER’S CASSEROLE’.
